Manyue 1000F LCC capacitors working as batteries

Thanks to the manufacturer Manyue we provided a solution to one of our customer's projects by using a 1000F LCC as a battery.

Project requirements:

Company in the electrical distribution sector had an off-grid sensor equipment, and required a high-capacity energy storage solution that would also allow it to be charged to 100% in the shortest time during installation and thus check its correct operation.

LCC capacitors are the best choice for this application as they have the advantages of a battery and the benefits of a capacitor:

• High level of safety: non-flammable in short-circuit situation.
• Fast charging: 50 times faster than lithium-ion battery and 250 times faster than lead-acid battery.
• Long service life: they can be fully charged and discharged 50,000 times and are usable for more than 10 years.
• Low maintenance cost
• Wide working temperature range: -30ºC +70ºC
• Environmentally friendly: no toxic heavy metals such as Pb, Cd or Hg.

Project solution:

Normally in these applications 1 or 2 Farad capacitors are usually installed, since they are connected to the grid, but in this project the choice of the 1000F LCC from the manufacturer Manyue was ideal so as not to be worried about changing the battery either because of loss of capacity or because it discharges quickly.

• Capacity: 1000F (-20%, +50%)
• Rated voltage: 3.8V
• ESR: 20mOhm
• Dimensions: 18mm diameter x 60mm height
